Frequently Asked Questions

Questions about our garments, natural dyes and your order? You may find the answers below. If you still need assistance, we're always happy to help.

About Our Garments

Why is every garment unique?

Every KuluKabi garment is individually handcrafted and naturally plant-dyed. Because botanical dyes interact differently with each piece of fabric, no two garments are ever exactly alike. Subtle variations in colour, tone and pattern are a natural part of the process, making every garment truly one of a kind.

What is plant dye?

Plant dye is a traditional dyeing technique that uses colour extracted from natural botanical materials rather than synthetic dyes. At KuluKabi, we embrace traditional natural dyeing methods to create colours that are rich, organic and inspired by the beauty of nature. Each garment carries the unique character of the plants used in its creation.

Will the colour fade over time?

Like all naturally dyed textiles, our garments will gradually soften and develop character with age. This gentle ageing is part of the beauty of plant dyeing rather than a flaw. With proper care, your garment will continue to evolve while retaining its unique natural charm.

Sizing & Fit

How do I choose my size?

Each product page includes detailed garment measurements to help you find the best fit. We recommend comparing these measurements with a similar garment you already own rather than relying solely on your usual clothing size. If you're unsure, please feel free to contact us—we're always happy to help.

Are your garments true to size?

Many KuluKabi garments are intentionally designed with relaxed or oversized silhouettes to allow for comfort, layering and ease of movement. We recommend checking the measurements provided on each product page before placing your order.

Care Guide

How should I care for my garment?

We recommend gentle hand washing in cold water using a mild, pH-neutral detergent. Avoid bleach, fabric softeners and harsh chemicals. Hang dry in the shade and avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight to help preserve the natural beauty of the plant dyes.

Can I machine wash my garment?

For the best long-term care, we recommend gentle hand washing in cold water using a mild detergent. If machine washing is more practical for you, choose a gentle or delicate cycle with cold water and wash the garment separately or inside a laundry bag. We recommend removing it before the spin cycle and hanging it to dry in the shade. This will help minimise stress on both the fabric and the naturally dyed colours.

Will the colour change over time?

Yes—and that's part of the beauty of plant-dyed textiles. Like wood, leather and linen, naturally dyed garments develop character through time and wear. With proper care, the colours will age gracefully, creating a unique patina that reflects your own journey with the garment.
